Gala day

Kicking off the festival Gala Day takes place on Leith Links each year bringing together a melting pot of community activity. Incorporating a mix of stalls from local makers and artists, local charities and community organisations, and food, Music on our main and other stage, dancing, storytelling, performers, dog show and more it showcases talent from across our community and celebrates cultural links from beyond.

Pageant

The pageant goes back to the roots of Leith Festival, beginning in 1907 to raise funds for the then Leith Hospital before the days of the NHS. Today the pageant celebrates the Leith community with participation from Schools, Youth Groups, Community groups and bands and cultural performers.

Events

Our varied events programme comes directly from the Leith Community. With a gamut of events organised by local groups, businesses and individuals. From music, to drama, to tours, taster sessions and more at venues right across Leith.

Tattoo

The Leith Community Tattoo rounds off the festival. A multicultural celebration of the diversity that exists in Leith. Like it’s Military counterpart our community tattoo sees traditional and contemporary performances from across the world, alongside pipes and drums. A fitting festival finale

Business Friends

I think the Leith Festival with its amazing mix of people with varied skills is a wonderful community event. I volunteer because my great grandfather was a Leith businessman, my grandfather was brought up in Leith, played cricket on Leith Links and the Leith spirit has always been in my heart because of that connection. If you live, work or just love spending time in Leith I would encourage you to join in and give the team a helping hand next year. Everyone works together to make the Leith Festival the best it can be.  Hope to see you next year!’
