Privacy Statement
The leithfestival.com web site is owned by Leith Festival Association Limited of 22 Duke Street, Leith, Edinburgh. We can be contacted by e-mail at web@leithfestival.com.

The following is an summary of our policy on the information that is gathered and stored by us when you visit this website. We will not sell or distribute your information to any third parties, nor contact you except where you have given us permission to do so. We respect your privacy.

Any information collected at this site is entirely confidential and will not be distributed, disclosed or traded with anyone.

leithfestival.com does not attempt to collect personal information about individuals except when specifically and knowingly provided by such individuals.

The only information we gather is either:

* When purchasing a ticket from us. The only details we see are your name, address, phone number (if supplied), tickets ordered and credit card details. Your credit card details are securely transferred on to our payment processor, PayPal Website Payments Pro for processing and are not stored by us.

* When you subscribe to a mailing list at leithfestival.com only the details you give us are collected. We will only send you information that you have requested.

The only details we have, in other words, are those you choose to supply us with at the time of ordering or registering. And then it is only us who have access to it, and we only use the data to provide you with the services you have asked for.

To further emphasise this, all data is collected lawfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

If you do decide to give us personal information (in other words, if you subscribe to leithfestival.com, or if you buy from leithfestival.com) your personal information will not be sold, rented or distributed to any other party.

We will not send you e-mail unless you have first given your consent, by signing up to the mailing list. You will receive a confirmation email with any order you place, but we will never place you on any of our mailing lists after you have made an order, nor do we use the data collected in the ordering process.

To enable you to receive automatic notification of updates to leithfestival.com - for example if you are a subscriber and wish to receive newsletters - your personal information will be used by us to provide this service.

Full unsubscribe details will be included in every email we send you.

While your personal information is protected as outlined above, we sometimes collect what is legally referred to as 'anonymous aggregated data' - in other words information that relates simply to you as a generic person and not an indivdual - for statistical purposes. This information is analysed by us to create profiles for the separate parts of the site, but contains no personal information. We also do not link this information with visitors to the site.

We do this because we like to know what parts of our site are visited often, those which are not, and which are the most popular. This information means that we can improve the site and concentrate on making sure that you enjoy it. It is also useful if we decide to solicit adverts online. Almost every website monitors its visitors in such a way, and we just want to make sure you know where you stand with us.

leithfestival.com may place a "cookie" in the browser file on the computer of a visitor to leithfestival.com's website. The cookie itself does not contain any 'personally identifying information'. What it will do is enable leithfestival.com to relate a user's visit and use of the site to information that the user has specifically and knowingly provided to leithfestival.com.

It is possible that, from time to time, leithfestival.com may host advertising banners. If you link to our advertisers, it is possible that you may also occasionally get cookies from them. leithfestival.com does not control these cookies and these cookies are not subject to this policy. The use of advertising cookies sent by third-party servers is common in the web world.

Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, it is possible that some parts of leithfestival.com will not function properly if you do so.

A special note to kids: Please ask your parents for permission before you send any information about yourself (your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the Internet.

Parents and guardians
We encourage you to get involved with your children's online usage and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating. Any 'personally identifying information' collected by leithfestival.com from children will only be used by Leith Festival for internal purposes such as market research, and may sometimes be included in our internal database, if the person agrees by submitting 'personally identifying information'. However, such information will not be posted or published by us, nor sold, rented or provided to any third parties.

Additionally, what is called 'anonymous aggregated data' may sometimes provided to our advertisers for statistical purposes as described above.

Again, if you have any concerns regarding privacy issues, or anything else, please contact us at web@leithfestival.com.
